Dickens, Charles: The Uncommercial Traveller (Illustrated). v2. 24th Aug 2009
The Uncommercial Traveller was originally published as a series of essays in Dickens' weekly magazine All the Year Round, between 1860 and 1869.
The title is explained in the opening chapter. Dickens was always on the road, either up or down the country giving public readings, or snatching holidays abroad. "Human interest" is the keynote of the essays, which represent the reflections of a great mind always shrewdly observing every facet of human activity as possible material for his fiction.
Much of the material in these essays is taken from Dickens' own life, and is hence of great interest to his biographers.
This is a fascinating book. Hope you enjoy reading it.
EDIT: 22 Mar 2008
I'd overlooked the fact that this book was not a "real" MobiPocket book. Created a new version to correct that oversight. Uploaded v2.
