Well, what Kovid tries to say in so many words is that once the hardware (pocketpro) is available, it will be quite trivial to get the reader supported. You just have to send some details (cf earlier in this tread) in and Kovid and his team (kudos to user_none) will get Calibre to support your hardware. As far as I know, nobody has received his PocketPro yet.

One can of course still use Calibre for "unsupported" devices - the only thing it won't do is automatically sync books to the device; but that's a very minor aspect of Calibre's functionality.
