Last WWI veteran in the UK dies at 111

Henry Patch, the last surviving Briton to fight in the trenches in WWI, has died, aged 111. Strangely enough, the only other surviving British veteran, Henry Allingham, died only a week ago, aged 113. Mr. Allingham was the oldest man in the world at the time of his death.

Patch wasn't the last British veteran. Claude Choules is still alive.

He served in the Royal Navy in WW1 and the Royal Australian Navy in WW2. He lives in Australia maybe that's why people don't think of him as the last British veteran.

Mr. Patch was the last living person who fought in the trenches. I think that's the reason it's made the news headlines.

God bless them both, I say.

The last living US WW I veteran is Frank Buckles, 107, of Charles Town, WVA.
