Fantastic review, thank you!

So you're not having any issues with the page turn button being stiff to press?

Actually, I'm not quite used to it. But it's no big thing in my book

Do they have one one-line yet? The Elonex actually has a manual, although it does not come with a printed version. So far as I can tell, the Cool-er is the standard Netronix EB-600 hardware (in a slightly non-standard case) and the standard EB-600 software stack. The Elonex is in the standard EB-600 case, but should otherwise be virtually identical to the Cool-er. So the Elonex manual, which is a bit picture heavy and short of details but seems to cover the basics well, should also be applicable to the Cool-er.

If the Cool-er has some unique features over other EB-600's, then that would be good information to have for the wiki and future "Which one should I buy?" queries.

Do you know if the Cool-er's .epub support can handle custom entities like headers & footers as per Jellby's DorianGray.epub here.

I'll check that. But, due to the fact that there is no pointer available I have my doubts, frankly.

It's using ADE's SDK, right? If that's so, I doubt it supports anything not already supported by ADE in the desktop.

Maybe I'll download the Elonex manual and see if it works with the Cool-ER.

I've read in this forum of problems reading Mobi (PRC) files on the Cool-ER. I'm also not sure if the ePub implementation is that great (this seems to be common amongst all readers) - mainly the zoom options, as I can never seem to find a size that suits me.

Could someone please post some comments of how the Cool-ER handles FB2 eBooks (my format of choice)?

I notice in reading a lot of reviews on other sites that the fact the Cool-ER can handle FB2 is often completely ignored. I guess that's to be expected, but I'd really like to know how well the FB2 reader works on this device. I am seriously considering the Sony PRS-300, but the lack of FB2 is a real problem.

Thanks in advance.

I have tested fb2 on my reader and it works quite well. I don't know how well it is rendering the books, though, as I do not know the format very well.

Thanks for that. Any chance of a couple of screenshots, then I can compare to my BeBook. And if you have a book in both ePub and FB2, perhaps a comparison of the two renderings? Thanks for your help.

But I hate that gigantic logo/tag line on the back (and front, too). I would be embarrassed holding that up in public.
Same here. The firmware look very decent for a 1.0 release, and without this horrible logo the design would actually be OK too. I wonder where they fished out their marketing guy.

Looks like the best overall software suite on e-ink devices at this time?

Thanks for the review mtravellerh.

The logo on the back should not be an issue as the Cool-er should be in a cover. And speaking of covers, where is the cover for the Cool-er?

I was wondering about that myself, Jon. I tried my Cybook cover, but no dice.
