Self-Published Kindle Author Gets Deal with Simon & Schuster
![]() According to Gizmodo and Crunchgear, author Boyd Morrison's book The Ark received so much attention that he has landed a two book deal with Simon & Schuster. It looks like Mr. Morrison was very good at self promotion on boards leading discussions about his book. Congratulations to him. |

This is really great, I wrote a post recently mentioning how I hoped to this this kind of new interaction. Authors becoming popular in a more organic way rather than being forced to go through a publisher to get their work in front of readers.
I like the possibility because we can stumble upon interesting who had trouble getting a book deal.

Good for him, but I have to say he's one in a million. Most self-published authors end up with 3,000 books sitting in the basement.

It's called "Vanity Publishing" for a very good reason.

Morrison's books are no longer in the Kindle store. He's explained it over in the other thread. Looks like it will be 2010 before the books are available again -- the eBook should be published along with the hardback edition.
