i am very interested in owning an ebook reader...you see...i have a disease which keeps me bed ridden most of the time...i get very bored and restless with limited things to do...plus money is very tight because i am unable to work and after 3 1/2 years i'm still fighting for disability...i also have three children which could benefit from it also...soooo...please pick me for the ebook reader...i would be happy with any one of them...but of course would prefer the kindle DX...

Hi demonfairy and welcome to MR
I'm sorry to hear about your problems--I hope an ebook reader will be some comfort to you.
I have a Kindle 1 and really don't know how I got along without it! There are many helpful--and opinionated (I mean that in the best way )--people on MR so I'm confident that you'll get lots of good advice. Here's my 2 cents: since you mentioned money, I think you might get more bang for your buck with a Sony 505 than a Kindle. Don't get me wrong, I love my Kindle and think there are some great things about it that other readers don't have (namely Whispernet)--but the e-ink screen in a Sony is identical to the e-ink screen in a Kindle. I recently saw a promotion for a 505 from, was it Best Buy?, for USD 199.
Good luck and happy reading!

Welcome to the forums. These forums are so addictive that they take away from the time I should be spending with my Sony Reader. I hope you enjoy looking around.
And desertgrandma's right, you need to go post in the giveaway forum. Don't miss out on a chance to win a free ebook reader. Follow her link.
If you are in the U.S., check out www.craigslist.org in your area. I've seen Sony 505s for as little as $150 in the San Diego area. It's a good investment since the free books available around here and some of the ebook websites as well as your local library will keep you occupied for many, many hours.
