Calibre does not detect my prs-505 :(
Hi,

For some reason, Calibre just won't detect my prs-505, but I can browse the device through windows explorer.

This happens both on Vista and XP machines (both 32bit).

I am using the latest version of Calibre 0.5.7. Is there anything that I can do?

Just for the record, I was having problems with 0.5.6 too, so I am hesitant to downgrade.

It's not detecting my Kindle 2 either. I think one of the bugfixes for 0.5.7 broke something.

I just upgraded to 0.5.7 on Windows XP and my PRS-505 isn't showing up, either.

Same here, 0.5.6 was working great, but I noticed the update this morning d/led and installed it, now calibre no longer see my 505...

regressing to 0.5.6 since I see that I'm not alone with this problem...

New Calibre update not working
Hope Kovid sees this soon! The new version 0.5.7 is not recognizing my PRS505. I can add a book etc. Just can't do a thing as far as transferring the book to the PRS. I re-downloaded and re-installed it but still no luck.

I suppose that I should mention that I'm running the Windows version on Vista Home Premium 32b. (Haven't gotten around to trying it out under linux yet, but it'll be Ubuntu 8.10 x86-64.)

Same problem here with calibre 0.5.7 and Windows XP SP2. I tried rebooting the computer, but calibre still did not detect my PRS-505. I went back and installed 0.5.6 and it works fine. Will wait for Kovid to fix the problem in 0.5.7 before re-downloading.

I just installed 0.5.7 on my Windows Vista machine and my Kindle isn't showing up in Calibre. Windows does recognize it, since it shows up under My Computer as Kindle(O: ).

I can drag the files from the Calibre folder to the Kindle documents folder until it's fixed.

Just downloaded and installed 0.5.7, and the reader showed up in calibre almost as soon as I plugged it in.

Nice one Kovid! Calibre is awesome, gonna donate after I get paid at the end of the month.
