Mal sehen was da herauskommt. So ein Global Player wie Google kann den eBook Markt sicher ganz schön "aufwirbeln". Aber um so meht Konkurrenz umso kleinere Preise (hoffentlich).

Ich bin ehrlich gesagt auch eher skeptisch. So wie das sich momentan anhört, geht es wohl hauptsächlich um eine Erweiterung von Google Books, die dann auch mal mehr Geld in die Kassen schwemmen soll. Derzeit ist die Grösse dieses Unternehmens aber noch eher dezent angesetzt.

Da stimme ich zu: online in Google Books lesen, ggf. offline mit Google Gears aus dem Browser-Cache, und dafür bezahlen - das klingt nach dem, was Google Books jetzt schon macht, nur erweitert um a) einen Bezahldienst und b) aktuelle Bestseller, was das Ganze für mich relativ uninteressant macht.

Interessant ist aber die Tatsache, daß sich Google vorbehält "übertriebene Preise zu senken".
Was das heißt ist natürlich nicht klar, bleibt nur zu hoffen, daß Google eine ähnliche Vorstellung von "übertrieben" hat wie wir.
