auto tagging for news
Is there a way to turn off the autotagging for news items. In other words, can I just tag all news items as NEWS so they are in one collection? There doesn't seem to be a way to BATCH REMOVE tags, or I would just batch remove all tags and then batch tag the items as NEWS again.

No there isn't, you can batch remove tags using the bulk edit metadata dialog (click the arrow next to the edit metadatabutton)
