o Mobile DOWNLOADING of .mobi books from supported sites:

From your Kindle, open your web browser, and enter the URLS as below:

o The Many Books site: http://www.mnybks.net

o The feedbooks guide is at: http://www.feedbooks.com/mobile/kindle

o The mobileread guide is at: http://www.mobileread.com/mobiguide

These guides will let you review what's on each site WITHOUT having to
use whisper net and drain the battery. When you are ready, you can then
activate whispernet, then do the download, then turn it off.

SWEET - MOBIlity!

================================================== =============================

o Baen CD 17 "Storm from the Shadows" is out at http://baencd.thefifthimperium.com/

================================================== =============================

o MobiPocket

o http://www.mobipocket.com - Main site, tools, etc

One special gripe: MobiPocket, despite a claim of being staffed by 50%
Mac/Apple lovers, DO NOT SUPPORT any tools or readers in any official

tools, but Apple/OSX? Not in 2 years of promises so far

# Programming and Tech in particular
================================================== =============================

o Green Tea Press has a series in "How to Think Like a Computer Scientist in"
[python, java, c++] and "How to Program in Python" and a Perl book and
well, haven't gotten too far yet with evaluating this stuff.
Allen B. Downey, professor of Computer Science at Wellesley College (local!)
(might have to send them some money)

o http://www.greenteapress.com/index.html

================================================== =============================
o Free Tech Books

This site lists free online computer science, engineering and
programming books, textbooks and lecture notes, all of which are
legally and freely available over the Internet.

o http://www.freetechbooks.com/index.php

================================================== =============================
o Text Processing in Python by David Mertz -- published by Addison Wesley

o http://gnosis.cx/TPiP/

================================================== =============================
o Google search on "python tutorial pdf"
Finds a lot more than the Van Rossum material. Boy howdy.

o http://www.google.com/search?q=python+tutorial+pdf

================================================== =============================
o Open Book Project
o http://openbookproject.net/

================================================== =============================
o Ibiblio - The Public's Library and Digital Archive
o http://www.ibiblio.org/

================================================== =============================
o Bruce Eckel - Mindview - Programming

Lots of stuff on Java, C++, Perl, much Python, and more.
o http://www.mindviewinc.com/Index.php - Main site
o http://www.mindviewinc.com/Books/ - Much with the free books
o http://mindview.net/Books/TIJ/DownloadSites

HTML format. Many in flat files. Use MobiPocket or other tools
(like iSilo) to convert to other devices. Both of those are esp
good at converting a lot of HTML into one file. Handier than you'd
think. Esp useful to put on devices like Plam, Phones, Kindles...

================================================== =============================
o Mark Pilgrim - Dive Into

More books on programming, and stuff, look for free downloads
o http://www.diveintopython.org/
o http://diveintomark.org/

================================================== =============================
o O'Reilly Safari Bookshelf - free

If you live or work in MA, you have access for free, to everything!

o Live there? Get a BPL card. Goto their website. Enjoy forever.
o Work there? Upwards of 6 months of access free.
Not clear what you're supposed to do after that.

================================================== =============================
# The Unresearched Data Collection Section:
================================================== =============================

o http://www.teleread.org/index.php

o http://www.e-book.com.au/freebooks.htm

You should look at our Wiki. That is the place for stuff like this.

Add any links you have that are missing.
