A Landscape Painter (1866) First published in The Atlantic Magazine, 1866. This is the original version of this early story, which has a delightfully ironic conclusion. (James later revised and softened it.) A painter whose engagement has been broken off, goes to a fishing village to recuperate and paint. There he meets a beautiful young music teacher… This work is in the Canadian public domain OR the copyright holder has given specific permission for distribution.
