Poe, Edgar Allan: Bon-Bon german v2 7 feb 2009

Die Kurzgeschichte Bon-Bon wurde erstmals 1835 veröffentlicht. Es ist Poes eigene Neufassung seiner 1832 im Philadelphia Saturday Courier veröffentlichen Kurzgeschichte The Bargain Lost.
The Bargain Lost war einer von fünf Beiträgen, die Poe für einen Schreibwettbewerb einsandte. Keiner der Beiträge gewann den Preis aber der Courier veröffentlichte Poes Kurzgeschichten trotzdem - angeblich ohne Poe dafür zu entlohnen.


Humorististische und teilweise satirische Kurzgeschichte, in welcher Pierre Bon-Bon, Wirt, selbsternannter Philosoph, Metaphysiker und Genius, eine verbale Auseinandersetzung mit dem Teufel führt. Bon-Bon erhofft sich vom Teufel einige herausragende philosophische Ideen, die er dann veröffentlichen könnte, um selbst zu Ruhm und Ansehen zu gelangen.

Voller satirischer Seitenhiebe auf große Philosophen der Vergangenheit - von denen der Teufel behauptet ihre Seelen verschlungen zu haben - entspannt sich eine surrealistische Debatte zwischen dem zunehmend trunkenen Wirt und seinem unheimlichen Gesprächspartner.
