Wells, H. G.: Tono-Bungay. v.1. 2 Feb 2009
H. G. Wells - 'Tono-Bungay'
'Tono-Bungay' was published in 1909. Although there are some SF elements (e.g. flying machines, radioactive substances), it is primarily a semi-autobiographical novel. Wells deals with social issues facing Edwardian society - changing moral codes, economic dishonesty, political corruption, women's changing roles, the rise of the press and advertising. Many of these issues are still relevant today, despite it being the 100th anniversary of the novel's publication.
This version originated from Project Gutenberg; but has been revised to correct textual errors, and include some passages that are missing in the PG text.
