I'm all for supporting small publishing set-ups. Can anyone recommend a good book that they publish to start with for someone who has not read their books?

Okay, done. They were relatively inexpensive, so I was able to purchase 5 of the 9. Good luck to them.

News like this should make everyone aware that publishing is not a get-rich-quick venture. A lot of us in the business work very hard for little money to provide the best books we can. I hope Apex makes it--a number of fine small publishers have failed over the past couple of years. Unfortunately, I've noticed a down-trend in sales at BooksForABuck.com over the past few months as well--part of the economic downturn, I'd guess. Although books are cheap, they're also very easy for many people to put off buying.

I jumped on the band wagon as well. Some of their books look quite interesting and I may not have noticed them otherwise. I got them at Fictionwise as all of my reading is electronic now.

Hi.

Someone left a note in a comment on my blog about this thread. I've read through it and to say I'm...touched would be an understatement. I really appreciate the support!

I dunno if mobileread.com caused the Apex website to crash, but I do know we got a lot of traffic from here.

I'll try to pop by whenever we have a new e-book out. And I'll definitely snoop around the forum...

Curious minds want to know...did ebook purchases help you out or do you get paid on those quarterly?

FW pays those out quarterly, so the purchases didn't count toward the sales tally. But rest assured every purchase made by the Mobileread.com people is appreciated!

I'm glad you cleared that up. I was afraid you were Keyser Söze. (If you don't get the joke, don't worry. No one understands my sense of humor.)
