By Dorothy Canfield [Dorothy Canfield Fisher] (1879–1958) This novel does not appear to feature any actual squirrels. It seems to have similarities to Ibsen’s “The Doll’s House,” and shows how a woman is trapped by her family’s aspirations and by the expectations of a consumer society.
