What is a good name for a cross-publisher ebook search engine?
The current working name is UESE (Unified Ebook Search Engine), and I thought that maybe this community could come up with a name that rolled off the tongue a little better? So post your creative suggestions in this thread! |

I own the domain "gaeabooks.com" (as in Gaea, the earth) and I'd give it up to this project, but I've found that few English speakers can pronounce or spell it. All those vowels in a row seem to confuse people.

How about NeedReading? www.needreading.com appears to be available. Or eReadsWanted -- www.ereadswanted.com also appears to be available.

I like sites named after people:
Apollonius (Rodius, librarian in Alexandria) Hume (David, Librarian in Edimburgh or Help Us Market Ebooks) Zenodotus (The first Alexandiran librarian) Tyson (Mike, has been librarian while in jail...) But you can name them after places: Alexandria Or you can play with acronims: FINDER (Find Immediatly New Digital Editions, Really.) MISS (Miss Is a Search Software) SEX (Search Engine eXtended) PIRATE (Publisher's Internet Resource Available To Everyone) EMULE (Easily, Multisitely, Uniformly Look for Editions) Unluckily, http://www.read.it/ is used by abebooks... |

i like apollonius because in addition to the library of alexandria reference it evokes Apollo the sun god (the light of the sun can be a metaphor for the light of reason, vehiculated by books and the knowledge they contain), who is also the god of reason and the arts ; Appollo's other name was "Apollon Musagetes", the leader of the Muses. very appropriate.
if apollonius is too long in fact we could shorten it to apollo or something similar.
