Thumbs up W.H. Smith's selling Gen3 for £149.99 (now £179.99)

See: here.

Shown as "in stock".

I'm 99% sure that the price is an error, but at that price it's worth ordering one and seeing what happens! You never know - they might honour the displayed price .

The standard UK price is £269.

Thanks to Bob Thomas for pointing this out.

I've ordered one - it'll be interesting to see what happens. At just under £150 including VAT and Postage, that's a bargain.

I've also ordered one. A spare will be brilliant - since I'm addicted, or very nearly surgically attached - the devices's relative fragility worries me.

Now to wait for my ccard to be charged ...

It's less than that, actually. You don't pay the 17.5%VAT, so your total is actually about $219.

Hmmm. I might get one (or three).

The whs front page actually has the strap "ebook readers from £149.99". So this could be a spoiler for the Waterstones/Sony launch

Lets see If they Actually do sell and deliver at that price.

If they do, it should put a lot of pressure on Bookeen to drop their direct sale prices as well.

Might Grab a second one then as well.

Doesn't say if you also need a case. If you do, the price is not all that good in comparison to a 505.

If the Labor Day special at BooksOnBoard is still going on, you get either $75 or $100 in free eBooks. Plus the cover and 1 GB SD Card loaded with the Century Bundle - a $50.00 value. Includes 100 all-time favorite classics.

If you are in the USA, it's a much better deal.

I got my order in last night, while they were still showing 'In Stock'. Checking my on-line order details, my CyBook is now "In Despatch Process", which the glossary defines as "Your products are ready to be despatched to you and will be despatched shortly."

I'll comment in this thread as things progress.

wow if prices are starting to drop this much already that is brilliant news for the propagation of liseuses. most of my friends have been really enthusiastic about the idea, until they hear the price. that usually cools them right down. let's just hope it's the beginning of a trend everywhere and will continue and amplify.
