Free -- City of Pearl by Karen Traviss

Harper Collins are doing free eBook give-aways for EOS's tenth anniversary.

You do need to create an account with them using an email address, but you don't need to enter any payment details. You add the book to your cart and then enter the discount code, which reduces the cost to zero. You do get subscribed to their newsletter automatically.

Usual DRMed formats. PDF, LIT, Mobipocket.

Since they recently also did an offer for the new Raymond E. Feist, I can only assume that they're doing a new book every so often.

or follow the EOS 10 "Download a Free E-Book" link from their front page

Strange.....

I went there and downloaded the PDF file and got "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland."

The file was an EBX Transfer Data File (7.0).

I did this twice and got the same results.

Any suggestions from anyone on this strange behavior.

EDIT:
I sorted through the problems (I think). I had a previous crash on my computer awhile back. There are still certain issues on this book, but this is not the place to enumerate those problems.

Every two months, in fact. Here's the original announcement and the first giveaway. The other two books you missed are Robin Hobb's Shaman's Crossing (as linked) and Sara Douglass's The Serpent Bride.

Although this promotion is just to celebrate their 10-year anniversary and has nothing to do with their e-books per se (heh), Eos has their e-act together -- free books so far have all been the first books in a series all of which are available as e-books. And it completely worked on me!: after I read the Hobb freebie I bought the rest of the series and have one of her earlier series sitting in my "toread" pile.

Bother - I'm sorry to have missed those. Then again, I still have well over 80 books in my 'to be read' pile (thankfully all eBooks!), so perhaps it's just as well...
