Yep, they got four, as well!
Spanish
English
German (lots of that here in the hill country which was originally settled by Germans)
French (lots of that near the border with Louisiana which was originally settled by .... wait for it ..... the French.)

There is no "South" Texan .... it's East and West only. West ... it's a "twang" and East it's a "drawl."

Bet you didn't know that about Texas, did you?? Betcha didn't!!

The thing that always shocks me about Texas is how tiny the freaking counties are. I swear, sometimes it seems like you pass through a county about every five minutes when you are driving.

Y'all're leaving out:

American
Hick
Ebonics
Spanglish
Doublespeak (spoken only in a very small section of Central Austin ... that the rest of us can't seem to manage to get away from)

I'm sure there are several others, but they escape me at the moment.

Having lived in San Antonio, I can say without preamble, that there is, too, South Texan:

Tire the Mericas: Tower of the Americas
There is an entire "South Texas Dictionary."

My favorite is: The longest word in a South Texan's vocabulary: Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!

Don't forget east texan. The closer you get to the Louisiana/Arkansas border, the weirder the accents.

It would be nice to have one in the southeast, but it's just too danged hot. It would have to be a pool party or something.

why don't you plan it for the autumn, when it's cooler ? that gives you plenty of time to plan, as well.

Planning a month or so is a bit much, unless you're planning an out of state trip. I think local (austin, SA, Dallas) trip could be thrown together in a month/6 weeks to meet at a local bar or something.

well then that gives you a month to *think* about planning it, before you actually have to start. honestly, the only reason i say you should give people a lot of notice, is that some people are *really* *busy*, and if you don't give them 2 months' warning, their calendar is already full.

i learned this on the first apéro.

Ah well... How about Sunday afternoon, November 2, in Atlanta? I'll be working in Atlanta the week of 3-6 and then going to Auburn on Thursday evening for the annual Homecoming visit.
