E-Book Upload section new features

We added a couple of new features to our e-book section:

1. Track the latest e-book uploads via RSS feed: http://feeds.mobileread.com/mr/ebooks

2. Download the always up-to-date e-book list in html or text

3. Batch-edit the genres of your uploaded e-books: http://www.mobileread.com/forums/ebo...?do=editprefix

The third feature is useful if you've already added a couple of books before we introduced genres and want to update them now in a more convenient and nerve-saving way.

Enjoy!

wow, brilliant features ! particularly the rss feed. but i can think of a couple of people who are going to really love the batch-edit genres feature...

thanks Alex !

I did all mine a couple of nights ago, when Alex was letting the moderators test the new feature. It works very well, and everything was straightforward. I'm so glad that I didn't have to open each individual post. That would have been just too chronophagious.

Thanks, Alex.

Love the "whole list". I was at least one of the people who asked for it. If I promise not to be a pest, can you easily add one more feature? Can you stick in delimiters between the title and the date, and between the date and the format/type?

Ted, this would require some considerable changes to our database layout. Currently, all the information, title, date, formats, are contained within the thread's title. Since we don't enforce a strict formatting of the title, it's impossible to automatically delimit these items. Eventually we'll change the database layout and convert all existing e-book meta data - then it will be easy to do what you suggest.

So, how do you get them separated out for the normal tabular view?

I mean just the normal list that is on your website. You have different columns for title, author, uploader, genre, date, etc. Ultimately the purpose of the "txt" view, for me at least, is to paste into a spreadsheet and do some sorting and organizing. The date being in a separate column is important so that I can look for all books uploaded since a certain date, for instance.
