Feedbooks will launch e-book reader this fall

According to Jean Michel Billaut (Google Translation):

"...Feedbooks, a young French start-up that has developed the first platform for downloading digital books multi-formats, including the famous ePub, Feedbooks therefore, will market its own e-reader at the beginning of next, in large retailers in France. "

At Feedbooks-Team and Hadrien! This is indeed cool news - Congratulations! - Your iLiad support is great and now I only miss some German newspapers, but that seems to me *just* am matter of parsing the websites, which is surely a big pile of work to do .

Btw. for all of you who love free ebooks I recommend to visit another amazing French website: http://www.jamendo.com <- free music for nearly every taste.

Cheers,
Nergal

Could this possibly be the Astak. Astak is associated with Feedbooks and Astak said they would start hitting the market this summer.

Cool! Since feedbooks has been doing a far better job of supporting my iLiad than iRex has, perhaps my next e-reader should be one of theirs. I look forward to further news...

Nope, just out of state. The Republic recently decided to open diplomatic relations with Tennessee, an obvious and overdue move, really, considering our closely joined histories.

Anyway, I got tapped for the slot and have opened the Embassy here in Jackson. I'm still working on the sign for the front door.

Busy working on Feedbooks of course ;-)
I'm doing a lot of changes on the service right now, we'll have a very powerful and standard API once it's ready (a full REST architecture).

Concerning the device:
- it'll be a 6" device based on Linux 2.6
- it'll be released through a large retailer in France around september/october
- available through specialized retailers and online later this year

We're dedicating our resources to what we consider the most basic features that any reader should have such as (just a few examples):
- the ability to browse through books using folders OR metadata
- a real bookmarking system that works well (something that the Sony did very well, but lacking on the iLiad and not really useful on the Cybook)
- simple yet customizable UI

I won't get too much into details yet, we'll do a real presentation once we're ready (screenshots, videos etc...).
