"Under the hood" of the PRS500

I couldn't find this already mentioned on the forum so here is a link to an article about the design of the PRS500.

The article is posted 03/30/2008. Why disassemble the 500 when the 505 is the current model?

Better questions yet, why is he talking about Vizplex? He doesn't seem to make any distinction between the 500, the 505 and the old Librié!

While the PRS-500 is fairly new to the U.S. market ...
Really? Almost 20 months and a follow on model ... that's an interesting application of "fairly new"

It has? Won't the Japanese be surprised to learn that?

I left a comment over there (wow, their registration is invasive!), that, hopefully is toned more to be helpful than critical. That was my hope, anyway.

Good comments left there Nat. It might be just how he got the unit. Like a free sample from Sony or some other reason it'd be the older device.

But that's still no reason to make misleading comments though.

My blood-pressure stays lower if I assume that the comments are merely ... uniformed, rather than misleading.

Honestly, the things he's said, they just don't make any sense if you know anything about the Readers. He'd have to be delusional as well as dishonest to be intending to mislead. Uniformed and lazy explain it well enough.

Uh... what? The first Google link will tell you that R5C807 is a memory card controller, not a display controller. The display is controlled by an Apollo chip. And he calls himseld "editor in chief"?!
