But What do you mean by 'resigned from', you have removed ram disk ?
Yes. I have copied files from ram disk which was located before first partition and from the system partition to mmcblk0p2 partition. Also I've put together data and cache on mmcblk0p3 partition. Now we have 3 partitions (fat32 + system + data) instead of 4 + ramdisk. I had to modify u-boot to boot from mmcblk0p2 directly. I've modified all init.rc scripts to mount things at right paths and with right permissions.

If think you must run it as a service.
I was afraid of it :/ Thanks for tutorial! I'll do it the right way later.

If I could register to configuration event from the manifest it would be the best - no process in the memory...

Detecting reverse mode is possible but not straightforward
You must use another method more cpu demanding...
Thank you! I know that method. But I don't want to poll for it all the time. I think handling standard portrait & landscape is fair enough. If someone wants reversed mode he/she can rotate touch from command line.

It is ok to move and resize partitions. Even the system one. You cannot change their order and type. This also applies to extended partition. Gparted will do ok with linux partitions. I had problems with it to resize FAT32 partition but in the worst case you can recreate that partition and copy all the data.

And sorry for corrupted boot image (it was designed for Touch's resolution). You can just close your eyes during the boot process

Upgraded kobo rotate touch utility to service. Should work more reliably.

In http://naberius.de/ hecke say:

Intermezzo: The startup logo

The system/bin/upgrade.sh tells us that the logo lives in /dev/block/mmcblk0@18432 (bs=512).
The name suggest that the image uses a 4 bit raw format – native resolution of the display is 1024×758 (makes 388096 bytes).

dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 bs=1 skip=9437184 count=388096 of=raw_logo
-> ofset: 9437184 Long: 388096

So you have convert it to 800x600 and replaced it
Where can I find it in the raw image, partition and ofset ?

Or can you post your modified raw logo for me to find it in the image (if not compressed in image ???)

Thanks.

I tried to resize the partitions to 8G memory card with Gparted and other programs, but with no success.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

I've replaced uboot and hwconfig section with the original mini ones, but it does not work, it stucks with this message:

Code:
Waiting for root device /dev/mmcblk0p1...
I've also tried to change bSysPartType in HW CONFIG section from type3 (the kobo one) to type8 (the one used in your image) but nothing change. For more info you can look in board/freescale/mx50_rdp/ntx_hwconfig.c (line 123) in uboot sources.

I think that the kernel parameters are hard coded in the bootloader, but I have no idea how to change them from sources.

This is the complete serial log:

It works for me with a 4Gb card (Glo)

The image from MarekGibek has been reduced to fit a 2Gb card (with 1Gb more space for books than original ! )

This what I have done with GParted:

1) Select Third partition (ext4 695Mo) and move it to the extreme right
2) Same for second (ext4 198Mo)
3) Expand First (FAT32 975Mo) to free space (2.8Go total with 4Gb card)

Not sure it can boot with higher card than 4gb because boot partition 3 could be too far from start of the volume...

I'm ordered a new 32Gb so I will test that later.

Hi Dancol90!

This is perfect! You started the kernel!! I feel you will mange to run it I see you have serial port connected and you can see u-boot messages! That's great! It will be very very helpful (I was doing everything blindly ).

You're very very close to success. The correct root partition is "/dev/mmcblk0p2" not mmcblk0p1 (p1 is user data - fat32). Please change that number and try again.

> I think that the kernel parameters are hard coded in the bootloader, but I have no idea how to change them from sources.

Yes. I wouldn't bother with recompiling it. I edited my parameters with hex editor. It is multi-string - every line ends with a single 0x00. Last line ends with a double 0x00. Knowing that you can replace u-boot config lines not bothering if single lines are longer or not. Just don't make it longer (as a whole block) than previous one. If you don't have space to add parameters just remove unused lines (take a look how I did it in my image without uboot recompilation - plenty of empty spaces erasing unused lines). I've removed boot args for mmc (external card?) for example when I was out of space. You can copy my boot params and update adresses if they are differnt in kobo mini. Just rember:
- exactly one 0x00 after every line
- two 0x00 after the last line
- spaces don't count
- don't make it larger than original (as a whole block)

But if you started the kernel already, the change from "mmcblk0p1" -> 2 should take you much farther.

If Android won't start after that you may need to pass additional u-boot parameters needed by Android. For sure "init=/init" is a must!

As you have found - the logo is located at 9437184 offset and is of size of 388096. Yes, I've replaced it with custom one with different resolution.

If you want to replace original Tolino logo, download tolino image (you can download it from the forum - the link to the forum is in the first post) ad copy it from there (this works if you have Linux):

Code:
dd if=tolino_original.img of=tolino_logo.raw bs=1 skip=9437184 count=388096
Next you can write it to your SD card.

Code:
dd if=tolino_logo.raw of=<your_SD_card_device> bs=1 seek=9437184; sync
If you are working on Windows, please find a good hex editor and copy 388096 bytes from original image from offset 9437184 to my image (overriding previous content, do not extend the file size).

That should be it.

For selecting the HW CONFIG section, do I just select sector 1024? Or do I select more than that?
