Text showing up to the right of Images instead of below the image

I am formatting my first Kindle book and have a question on formatting. I am using Microsoft Word 2010.

I feel that I have the Heading 1, Heading 2 and Normal styles correct, but obviously not

The text in the Kindle Previewer shows up great when it is only text. On the chapters where there are images and text...some of the images have the text that should be on the line below the image, showing up next to the image on the right hand side. It is not like this on all the images, but about half of them.

I clicked on each image and chose Position and Inline with Text. Not sure if this is correct. I just read that somewhere.

Maybe has something to do with indenting, but I thought I took care of that with the Styles settings.

Just can't figure it out. Thank you all SO much for your help!!

Images can be separate or inline with the text. I looks like some of yours are inline with the text. A simple fix is to make sure that you entered the return key after the image.

DaleDe....

I thought I had a return after each image, but I will look again. I also clicked on each image and clicked Position and then In ine with Text.

Is that the right way to do it?

Thanks so much for your help!

They should not be inline with text to avoid this problem.

Do you know how to tell it NOT to use the inline with text. All I see is Inline with Text and then others that looks like the text would wrap around it.

I REALLY appreciate your help!

In line can be made to work so long as you place it in a paragraph by itself. You can also tap advanced on the screen and click top and bottom. With this setting it will be on a line by itself even if it is in the middle of a paragraph. How they will be reflected in the eBook I do not know.

Geekdrummer, I just finished a non-fiction with 51 images (eBook as well as POD) and for the eBook (Kindle) version I used a Centered Style for the image placement, Insert (choose the image), then return/enter so that your caption or whatever is a new paragraph below the image. I ignore the Word 'Picture Tools' 'Format' feature all together. You don't actually have to choose in-line or anything else. The following is the line in HTML for an image on its own line:

<p class=CenterJPG><img width=192 height=31
src="ASundown2_files/image007.jpg"></p>
