libprs500 Version: 0.4.43 dies and does not detect reader under OSX

First of all: I USED to be a windows user and as such I have been using libpsr505 almost since its inception. Nevertheless, I migrated a couple of months ago and I find it impossible to run under osx. It works well with the creation and conversion functions but, as of detection of the device it just dont work at all. Besides that when one tries to run it when the device is connected it just dies horribly.
When calling it from the terminal window is says:

There's some additional info that appears everytime I unplug the reader from the machine. Perhaps its useful?
