Prevent words splitting at end of line when making epub

I have a Nook Simple Touch.

I want to take a txt file and convert it to an epub with Calibre.

But when reading it on the my nook simple touch, the words at the end of the line are split.

For example this happens.
Now is the ti-
me for all go-
od men to co-
me to the aid
of their party.

Its splitting the word at the end of a line and adding a "-"

How do I prevent words from being split and hyphenated I am using Calibre?

Is there a CSS I can add.

PLEASE help. I've been trying for three days to make this work.

Its only a 34 page txt file.

PLEASE someone help me from wasting more of my time.

I would fix the text file
  1. replace all double new lines (end of paragraph) with say '###',
  2. replace all single new lines with space
  3. replace all double space with space
  4. replace the '###' with new line
  5. convert the file

I'd use Notepad++ on Windows, TextWrangler on Mac and SciTE on Linux. And I'd save as macro so I have it next time.

I thought this issue was a nook issue, not a calibre issue. I've noticed hyphenated words when using my nook but never see them when using, say, my sony 350.

Looks like you might need Sigil [there's another sub-forum here just for that program] to manually edit the created epub.

does the split (Hyphenation) points move with font size changes on your Nook? Yes= Nook caused. No~= hardcoded in source

Some devices offer hyphenation setting control.
another way might be to set the alignment to other than justify

If you view this ePub using calibre's viewer do you still see the hyphens? If not then poke around the Nook's settings and see if you can turn off using hyphens.

FYI, this is what I've found that forces Nook to not hyphenate. Include adobe-hyphenate: none in the CSS:
Code:
 body {
	adobe-hyphenate: none; }
That's for nook update 1.2.1 and on. Older versions required different adobe magic parameters as I recall.

Now is the time for all good men
to come to the aid of their
party and the line of the paragraph

two words in it.

adjusting font,line spacing or width or margins has no effect on it.
