I haven't tried it but I would suspect that it sets how long the date/time is shown at the top of the screen when you tap the center of the screen before showing the % read.

That was my guess. But, I didn't see any changes when I tried different numbers.

"Toast" is a common programming term for a pop-up message, it's not unique to Kobo. I think it originated from the idea that the message pops up onto the bottom of the screen like toast from a toaster.

Yes, and I don't use kepubs, and with the epub's you don't see the % at all, just to be curious ( ehh hope this is the good word) is just renaming an epub to kepub enough for the options ??

Try this but without the quotes:

there's a special order in which they need to be inserted?
Or Zoom and ExportHighlights should be not under [FeatureSettings]?...

In library > books > menu (symbol of three lines), you find a new option "Export Highlights"

Is there some way to sync, but not to upgrade to a new software version ???
I have patched my libnickel version 2.8.1 but every time I sync kobo tries to put 2.10.0 on it

Any time you sync, the firmware checks for updates. You can change the version number in the file ".kobo\version". This has worked in the past, but the file gets rewritten each time the device restarts. So, if you power off, the change gets lost.

Sorry, bit of a newb here... how are you setting these? Just editing the config file on the device? Or do I need to hack/load special firmware, or whatever? These settings look really interesting!

It's just editing the “kobo eReader.conf” file on the device, no hacks needed.
