I find the Kindle app relatively easy to use. It lacks many of the bells and whistles of other third party apps but it it job.

Thanks guys, I will have to give this a try.

Will need to load it onto 3 kiddie tablets and sync the necessary books. I already have them connected to my app store (with parental pin to avoid in app purchase) and as long as I can control what books download and I can still side load others, this should do nicely. Just don't want it to be to hard for them to navigate.

Will let you know how it goes but if anyone sees something they think might work better, let me know

Several children I know, one of them 6 actually prefer a dedicated eink reader. I've yet to see a child reading o book on a tablet in a public place. Not that many with paper books either. I work in a pubic place and see about the same amount of children as adults with eink readers. All of the 5 children I know personally 6-12 that use an eink reader are readers so that makes a difference, but all have access to fairly high end tablets as well, and rarely bring them with them.

Maybe it's worth bearing in mind that eink ereaders are much cheaper than tablets: just in case a child drops or loses one.

I got you, but they already have the tablets, I just want to add a little more of what is good for them (like reading) in addition to the games. Strangely enough, it is not them I am worried about breaking the tablets. They had some before and it was their parents that broke the others. Kinda dont want to give them the new ones cause their parents keep f'ing them up and then I have to start over with setting them up
