Warner, C.D.: Trilogy. V1. 19-Apr-2013
Charles Dudley Warner (September 12, 1829 – October 20, 1900) was an American essayist, novelist, and friend of Mark Twain, with whom he co-authored the novel The Gilded Age: A Tale of Today.
The novels included in this volume form a trilogy. The first part was published in 1889, the last one ten years later. Each of the novels is complete in itself, each can be read by itself; but the effect of each and of the whole series can be best secured by reading them in succession. The first book, “A Little Journey in the World”, is the story of how a great fortune was made in the stock market; the second, “The Golden House”, how it was fraudulently diverted from the object for which it was intended; and the third, “That Fortune”, how it was most beneficially and satisfactorily lost.
