It is a crossover. just like when I look for western books nowadays over half of the selections are historical romances.

Stanislaw Lem books at B&N for $2.99 each (18) plus a couple $3.99 each. So far three price matched at http://www.amazon.com/Stanislaw-Lem/...011&sort=price, including his first book Hospital of the Transfiguration.

I didn't mind that one in terms of pacing and excitement. But it had its issues: a couple of large sermons about the nature of intelligence, the capabilities of the human brain and the existence of God and a little too much black and white rather than shades of grey when it came to morality. But it was a fun read.

I've been collecting those when they are the Kindle Daily Deal. I have 7 of them so far and all were priced at $1.99 for a day.

I wouldn't take this as a recommendation to wait for Kindle Daily Deal though.

I have to agree with ya. I got some of the $1.99 ones, too, and it doesn't mean they will all go on the KDD. Their regular prices are $8-10, so $2.99 is still a good deal.

I've not read any in this series, but I've read others of hers and they weren't romance. Baen published her for a while and they were Fantasy genre in fairly unique settings.

Dun Lady's Jess was great. The heroine is a mare that changes into a woman -- and quite by accident. While there is a romantic element, it's a very mild subplot that occurs over two books. The heroine has to learn to be human first. And unlike soooo many other fantasy authors, Doranna Durgin knows her horses.

Ooh, and there is an Audible edition, and it's a Whispersynch title, so you can get the audiobook for $1.99 if you buy the Kindle edition. Hmmmm. Be right back.

Leviathan Wakes by James S. A. Corey, first in the Expanse series, is $1.99 at B&N. Nowhere else seems to have matched it yet.
Quote:
Humanity has colonized the solar system - Mars, the Moon, the Asteroid Belt and beyond - but the stars are still out of our reach.

Jim Holden is XO of an ice miner making runs from the rings of Saturn to the mining stations of the Belt. When he and his crew stumble upon a derelict ship, The Scopuli, they find themselves in possession of a secret they never wanted. A secret that someone is willing to kill for - and kill on a scale unfathomable to Jim and his crew. War is brewing in the system unless he can find out who left the ship and why.

Detective Miller is looking for a girl. One girl in a system of billions, but her parents have money and money talks. When the trail leads him to The Scopuli and rebel sympathizer Holden, he realizes that this girl may be the key to everything.
Edit: $1.99 price matched at Kobo, Amazon and Sony. (US/Canada only it seems)

Leviathan Wakes is one of the Kindle Daily Deals at Amazon, so it may well jump back up in price there tomorrow. As you can see if you look closely at the left edge of the cover image, many e-book editions of Leviathan Wakes also include the full text of The Dragon's Path, the first book in the Dagger and the Coin series by Daniel Abraham, one half of the writing team known as James S. A. Corey. I know from having purchased it when the book was discounted a while back that the Kindle version has The Dragon's Path included, and going by the samples, the B&N and Kobo versions do as well. The Sony edition has the right cover, but I don't know if they're selling that version.

Free: Revelations: Book One of the Merlin Chronicles by Daniel Diehl
Sunbury Press

Quote:
Merlin the magician only exists in myth and legend--at least that is what archaeology student Jason Carpenter thought until he discovered the mysterious orb that housed history's greatest wizard for 1,600 years.

Forced into an uneasy alliance, Jason and Merlin are sucked into a web of deceit, intrigue and murder sending them on a chaotic race to outwit, and out run, Merlin's ancient nemesis, the evil sorceress Morgana LaFay: a gang of drug smugglers and a 500-year-old Chinese necromancer. It is a race against time to complete their quest before an army of dragons are unleashed on a vulnerable and unsuspecting 21st century world.

In The Merlin Chronicles: Revelations, Daniel Diehl has created an adventurous blend of Arthurian legend, biblical prophecy, classic wizard fantasy and contemporary urban fantasy to create a world exactly like ours -- except that Merlin and the age of magic return full-blast to battle ancient evils and save civilization.

Revelations is the first book of as gripping new fantasy series by award winning author Daniel Diehl.
