A guide to understanding Modern Symphonies.
Berlioz and Liszt; Berlioz, Romeo and Juliet; A Symphony to Dante's Divina Commedia; Symphonic Poems of Liszt; Symphonic Poems of Saint-Saens; Cesar Franck; D'Indy and the Followers of Franck; Debussy and the Innovators; Tschaikowsky; The Neo-Russians; Sibelius; Bohemian Symphonies; The Earlier and Later Bruckner; Hugo Wolff; Mahler; Richard Strauss; Italian Symphonies; Edward Elgar; Symphonies in America.
Note: I have added two files the zipped one includes images of musical notes from the symphonies being discussed. This way those of you who can read music can hum along. For those of us who cannot read music I have included a "lite" version.
