KDP Select freebies (should be free in all regions, barring geo-restrictions):

The Door to Ambermere by J. Calvin Pierce (ISFDB entry), 1st in Ambermere Trilogy of comedic light adventure fantasy, IIRC, originally out from Ace Books in 1992. I actually have a paperback copy of this or another book in the series which I picked up at a used bookstore, I think, but have never actually got around to reading.

The Stone Mother's Curse by David Farland aka Dave Wolverton (his ISFDB and Wikipedia entries are somewhere upthread and I'm not going to bother to re-link). Self-pub fairy tale-ish fantasy, if you're interested.

A.A. Attanasio offers a repeat of a book in his sf Radix Tetrad.

Smashwords freebies available to all (may or may not be price-matched elsewhere in regions which are not Canada, from an Amazonian point of view):

Daddy's World by Walter Jon Williams (ISFDB entry, Wikipedia). 2001 Nebula Award-winning cyberpunk novelette.

Glampire by Chris Dolley. Humorous alien contact murder mystery short by author mentioned in post directly above.

Stephen Hunt (ISFDB, Wikipedia) offers two of his space opera and urban fantasy novels which were previously KDP Select exclusive-or-else, now free to all via Smashwords.

The third book in Bradley P. Beaulieu's Lays of Anuskaya series is being released in May, the author has a Kickstarter project where $15 gets you all three books in the series plus (if the first stretch goal is reached, almost there already) his upcoming short story collection Lest Our Passage be Forgotten and Other Stories.

The first book in the series is also being discounted to $2.99 at Amazon, B&N, and Kobo

3 fantasy novels for $5,99 + VAT at Kobo.

The novels are:

THE ROOK: 'The body you are wearing used to be mine.' So begins the letter Myfanwy Thomas is holding when she awakes in a London park surrounded by bodies all wearing latex gloves. An astonishing fantasy debut about the secret organization keeping Britain safe from supernatural threat.

THE DESERT OF SOULS: Amid the trackless sands of ancient Arabia, two companions - a swordsman and a scholar - search for the ruins of the lost city of Ubar. Before their quest is over, they will battle necromancers and animated corpses, they will confront a creature that has traded wisdom for the souls of men since the dawn of time and they will fight to save a city's soul.

THE TWYNING: A story of love, war and rats, pitting their world against their mortal enemy: humankind.

Urban Fantasy free from Amazon: City Whitelight by John MacKenzie.

Quote:
City Whitelight was published in 1986 by Mainstream Publishing, Edinburgh and paperbacked the next year by Fontana, London.

It was adapted by the author as a Monday Night Theatre on BBC Radio 4.

City Whitelight is an explosive novel set against the process of social breakdown in an archetypal city - a city without any real place in geography or time, in a world which has become accustomed to eruptions of urban discontent. The surreal inner city environment created in the novel has obvious modern connotations.

Free today: All the Paths of Shadow by Frank Tuttle
'The king’s orders were clear enough. “Move the tower’s shadow,” he bellowed. “I refuse to deliver my commencement speech from the dark.”

As the newly appointed mage to the Crown of Tirlin, Meralda Ovis has no choice but to undertake King Yvin’s ill-conceived task. Tirlin’s first female mage, and the youngest person to ever don the robes of office, Meralda is determined to prove once and for all that she deserves the title.

The Tower, though, holds ancient secrets all its own. Secrets that will soon spell destruction for all of Tirlin—unless Meralda can unravel a monstrous curse laid by a legendary villain seven centuries before she was born. '

Black Hole Sun, by David Macinnis Gill [HarperCollins]

Quote:
Mars stinks.

It's hot. The air reeks of burning fuel; the rivers and lakes seethe with sulfur. In the shadows, evil men plot terror and beasts hunt the innocent. Out on the barren crags of the terraformed planet, there is nowhere to hide. No one to heed a call for help.

No one, except Durango.

I'm not too surprised (if it was, would not expect it to be free, as HC usually has different ASIN's and separate publishing arm for the ones that do cross over).

Not free at BoB or on Kobo or Sony, from what I could see (may change after a day or so).

Free from Kobo today: The Accidental Demon Slayer by Angie Fox
'It's never a good day when an ancient demon shows up on your toilet bowl. For Lizzie Brown that's just the beginning. Soon her hyperactive terrier starts talking and her long-lost biker witch Grandma is hurling Smuckers jars filled with magic. Just when she thinks she's seen it all Lizzie learns she's a demon slayer-and all hell is after her.

Of course that's not the only thing after her. Dimitri Kallinikos a devastatingly handsome shape-shifting griffin needs Lizzie to slay a demon of his own. But how do you talk a girl you've never met into going straight to the underworld? Lie. And if that doesn't work how dangerous could a little seduction be...?'
