Thanks! Sounds like fun, in a Damnation Alley/"Escape From New York" vein.

Free from Dark Arts: The Crawling Abattoir by Martin Mundt
Introduction by Jay Bonansinga; preface by John Everson

http://www.amazon.com/The-Crawling-A.../dp/B00BPBQZVG

"For a group of short stories written over a period of several years for unrelated reasons, "The Crawling Abattoir" wouldn't seem a like candidate to have a theme, but it does: the hilarity of horror. The funny side of agony. Hit me with your torture-shtick! "

The Red Empire and Other Stories by Joe McKinney [Redrum Horror]

Quote:
EIGHT TALES OF TERROR AND SUSPENSE FROM MASTER STORYTELLER JOE McKINNEY.

The Red Empire is the Army’s secret weapon against insurgents the world over. A gigantic colony of inch long, super-intelligent fire ants, The Red Empire is capable of fighting any enemy, no matter where they’re hiding. But when the military transport tasked with delivering this weapon washes out in a flash flood along the Texas-Mexico border, and the ants are loosed upon the countryside, no one is safe…

Included in this collection are seven additional tales of murder and injustice, things criminal and darkly supernatural. McKinney takes us from the ghostly sorrow of a grieving parent to the depths of a Lovecraftian nightmare, from a sanity-destroying discovery by one of America’s greatest writers to a love lost that won’t let go until a man is driven over the edge. Tales of horror and human depravity you won’t dare miss!

“Joe McKinney has been my favorite horror writer since he first broke on the scene. Each story in The Red Empire is a dangerous gem of a tale. Here is the most original voice of modern horror.” —Jonathan Maberry, New York Times Bestselling Author of Assassin’s Code and Dead of Night

Receive 30% off this month's featured title with coupon code "MARCH" (Exp. 3/31/13 Midnight EST) ($3.85)

Featured title: The Late Night Horror Show by Bryan Smith.

Quote:
When the movie starts, the horror becomes real.

It was a run-down old multi-plex in a seedy part of town. But it had a special late-night festival of the cheap horror movies one group of friends loved, movies filled with zombies, vampires and backwoods maniacs.

How could they know it was a very special screening indeed? After the friends split up and their chosen movies began, they found themselves transported out of the life they knew and into the blood-drenched worlds of the films. Worlds where the living dead roam the countryside, the decrepit mansion of a vampire and his minions dominates the night sky, and the shrill scream of a buzz saw is always right behind you.

This is a great collection. The title novella is a fun, fast-paced nod to matinee style horror movies. There's another great novella here called "Blemish"--a ghost story.

I'm still reading this one, and actually "rented" it last week as my Prime freebie for this month. Now I get to keep it!

This link for The Boat House seems to work a lot better, for some reason:

http://www.amazon.com/The-Boat-House...ouse+in+kindle

The other link results in an endless viewing of the sample to....
being unable to quit viewing the sample. It was impossible to purchase the book; hence, the additional link above.

What Dr. Drib means is that the link in that thread automatically loads the "look inside" feature, and when you try to close the feature and get to the main product information, the page bounces back to your post in that thread.

Oh thanks for the explanation. Very weird, because I don't get that when I click on the link - just the regular product page. I'll change the link.

It looks like Crossroad Press is bringing out Clive Barker's Books of Blood in ebook.

Volume 1 is $4.99.

Quote:
This first volume contains the short stories : "The Book of Blood," "The Midnight Meat Train," "The Yattering and Jack," "Sex, Death, and Starshine," and

"In the Hills, the Cities," as well as the original introduction to volumes one, two, and three by Ramsey Campbell, and a new introduction by author David

Niall Wilson.
I'm going to wait and see if they do any omnibus editions, as I have volumes 1-3 in paper.

Yes, of course. But when one clicks on the link, the result is what I reported - for me,
anyway.

Sorry. I see that Brendan replied to this.

The Graveyard Speaks by Hunter Shea

Quote:
Some secrets can’t stay buried.

Deep in a dark, snow-covered cemetery, a terrifying, moaning apparition rises from the same grave night after night. Even the most hardened caretakers won’t go near the Spooner gravestone on their midnight rounds. Only one ghost hunter has the will to face the unknown, but at what price? In the chilling blackness, only Jessica Backman is prepared to answer the spectral cry from beyond when the graveyard speaks.
