amazon.com.BR removes Special Offers at no cost!
Hi!

After one year with my Kindle Touch with Special Offers (SO), I acquired another Kindle, this time the PaperWhite, with SO too. Both brought to me by the hands of a friend that went to USA to work.

As I live in Brazil, I decided to move my devices to amazon.com.br.

Then, I decided to pay to remove the SO, but the Manage Your Kindle page at amazon.com.br doesn't show me the link. So, I wrote a message asking how should I do to pay the cost in order to has the SO removed.

Less than 12 hours later a tech support replied my message telling me that he had already removed the SO from my PW, and that the process will be completed after I turn on the Kindle.

And you know what? Bingo! Special Offers removed at no cost!!!

This is not a hack nor Social Engineering!

I'm trying the same approach with the Touch one. I'll let you know about it.

There have been many reports of Amazon removing Special Offers at no cost for people living outside the US. It's nice of them to do so.

Yep. Just don't count on it.

There's (subjectively) about an equal amount of people who had them "manually" removed by CS, and were charged for the procedure. This may be a per-country thing, or it may depend on the mood of the Amazon representative or on how nicely you ask. Or maybe it's just random
