Reinstalled Kindle for iPhone, didn't have to log in!?!?

When I upgraded to iOS8 I had to uninstall a bunch of stuff to make space. The Kindle app was one of them. I wanted to look at a book on the iPhone, so I just reinstalled it and was shocked to find that it took me straight to the cloud view w/o having to log in.

I have no idea how they did it... maybe something in iCloud? A device ID? I hope not the latter as it makes me wonder what would happen if I were to sell the device (maybe a wipe would reset it?).

Anyhow... I found it shocking and thought I'd share.

Do you have another Amazon app on that device? They can share log in credentials. Or at least that is how it works on Android.

Ah, maybe they did something similar to what Google does... good point. I do have their shopping app.

That said, I hate when apps share login credentials, especially if they don't let me override the sharing. Not so bad in the case of Amazon as we only have one account for the entire family, but for the Google services I want some services to only be one of the accounts, or some services on one, others with a different account. An example... our Android tablet is set up as primarily my gf's accounts... I don't want my accounts on it, but I can't use Chrome Remote desktop w/ my account w/o logging into my account globally. Stupid.

iOS has a protected area, called the keychain, where apps can storge sensitive data, such as login credentials. This is not usually cleared when an app is uninstalled so this may account for the credentials still being available after re-installing the Kindle app.

Maybe the data within the app had been saved? If the data's there, there's no need to reregister.
