KPW Update function and USBnetwork don't work anymore

Yea, i can't upgrade anymore on my Kindle Paperwhite 5.3.1... I was creating via PuTTy a filesystem but my Kindle made a reboot. After this i couldn't upgrade anymore. That means when i make a .bin file into /mnt/us/ directory and upgrade the Kindle under settings the display will be black and my KPW shutdown it self, so i have to press the power button for 7 seconds. If it restart then it comes the upgrade error 3. I can't also activate usbnetwork with ;un. When i start the usbnetwork.sh in kterm i get this error: '/usr/local/bin/usbnetwork.sh: /mnt/us/usbnet/etc/config: line 2: sysntax error: unexpected ")"'.

I am really hoping that someone can help me out there.

What is on line 2 of your usbnet/etc/config ?

If i make vi usbnet/etc/config there is crypted text or something like this.

EDIT: in the device infos the firmware version is still 5.3.1.

OP clearly states that the Kindle re-booted (which is when the upgrade would have been installed).

Is there any hope that it could be solved when a correct jailbreak/usbnetwork is available?

We first need to clarify what firmware version you have. Does the "Device Info" menu item definitely still state that you're running firmware 5.3.1?

Yes, here is the following line: Firmware Version: Kindle 5.3.1 (1795370024)

Thanks. So the update is NOT the problem (which is as it should be - I'd be very surprised if it was being sent out wirelessly yet. Amazon generally wait a while to see if any problems show up before they start automatic updates).

Great - that means I made a bad guess.

Can you tell us now what is on the second line of that config file?
The one that reported an error.

PS: Any chance one of those text files got edited with Windows line endings?

And give us a bit more information on that: "was making a file system" comment.
