I had no five-star reads last year. I guess I'm picky. I had a bunch of four-star reads, and the ones that entertained me the most were His Majesty's Dragon, Gone Girl, and The Power of Habit.

My favourite book of 2012 was Cold Days by Jim Butcher.
Second and third were Tai-Pan by James Clavell and The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet by David Mitchell. |

I am glad that I read Mansfield Park and Persuasion thanks to book club recommendations. I didn't really like Pride and Prejudice so I had avoided Austen's other works. However, I enjoyed both of these and now have a new perspective of this author.
The best book I read in 2012 that was published in 2012 was probably Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. |
