Prioritising Metadata download

When downloading data (rather than covers) is it possible to priortise the source of the data. Specifically I prefer Goodreads over Amazon but at the moment Amazon seems to be the priority source.

Use the Configure Metadata button

Set the ticks an Numbers to your preferences, 1 for favorite Higher for less, same for those with equal weight)

IIRC correctly this only applies to the cover priority. As for the metadata I was wondering the same and asked it here: http://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=134045

Summary: Does not work and Kovid seems to have no plans changing it

Kind regards

Thanks theducks and SoulStyle for the comments.

To clarify I have already set the Configure Metadata button to no avail.

Kovid's reply to SoulStyle seems still to hold good. To that the extent that even starting with only a goodreads ID (no ISBN or Amazon) Download Metadata adds the Amazon ID and imformation from Amazon in the comments.

@JoonieB - my solution to this was to just turn off the "Comments" downloading for the Amazon plugin. So you will still get other "things" made available, such as covers or ratings data, but the Goodreads comments can never be replaced by Amazon ones.

The only situation in which this can cause an issue is for a book in Amazon not in Goodreads. In reality this happens so rarely as to not be an issue (Goodreads database is built from Amazon plus B&N plus other sources, so it is arguably much better than Amazons own!). The only time you *can* have a problem is if the ISBN grouping match comes back with Amazon in an ISBN pool of its own. This is when doing single metadata downloads via the Edit Metadata dialog is best, because you can pick the Goodreads result manually (and if necessary do a second download metadata to pickup the Amazon id, but comments will not get overwritten).

I suggest a "Prioritize" option to metadata sources (next to "Cover priority") that when set prioritize metadata search results that include an ID for that source. (And only use a search result without it if none contain it.)

The workaround I use is to disable the other sources, which is less optimal because then an ID and comment from the review sites I use less often is never present rather than sometimes present.
