No, it doesn't. On the Kindle you can select a picture and zoom, on the Kobo there is no way to select the picture and hence to zoom in on it. Which is stupid...

Actually, it does support zoom, but not for images in epubs. On a kepub, there will be a zoom icon if there is an image on the page. PDF, CBR, CBZ and images by themselves can all be zoomed.

Oh ... so that means that if I want to use zoom then I need to download the book on the Glo via Kobo desktop because it's then a Kepub?

Yes, the zooming for PDFs works fairly well.
