No, it doesn't. On the Kindle you can select a picture and zoom, on the Kobo there is no way to select the picture and hence to zoom in on it. Which is stupid...

Actually, it does support zoom, but not for images in epubs. On a kepub, there will be a zoom icon if there is an image on the page. PDF, CBR, CBZ and images by themselves can all be zoomed.

Oh ... so that means that if I want to use zoom then I need to download the book on the Glo via Kobo desktop because it's then a Kepub?

Unfortunately, the Kobo doesn't do zoom on images in epubs. If you purchased the book from Kobo, then you can use the desktop app or do a WiFI sync.

A hack is to change the extension of the epub to ".kepub.epub". This will then be opened with the reader application used by kepubs. Kobo recommend against doing this, but it seems to work.

Yes, the zooming for PDFs works fairly well.
