Vox So whats happening with Kobo Vox?

About six weeks or a month ago an e-commerce site announced Kobo would be out with a android tablet called "Vox". The supposed launch date was 10/17. Since then pretty much absolute silence.

Anybody know whats going on with this product?

It's not ready yet. That release date was completely fictional.

I wonder if the Kindle Fire has sent it back to the drawing board.

I doubt it, afv011. It cleared the FCC with a 45 day hold only a few days before the Future Shop "leak". I am pretty sure that we will see what passed through the FCC, and in the time frame Kobo actually planned on. If not, we will see another FCC clearing in advance of whatever is released--and that has not happened.

There is a demo on the website. It was announced on Twitter, not sure where else. Click on the "view demo" on http://www.kobobooks.com/kobovox. I don't know what market it is using and it looks like it will have to be rooted for Android Market access.

Android Market has over 250,000 apps; so Kobo is referring to an app store that isn't Google.
