Wentworth, Patricia: The Case is Closed. V1. 26 November 2012
Miss Maud Silver made her fictional debut in 1927 in "Grey Mask", one of Miss Wentworth's lively thrillers. Miss Silver was a minor character. She re-appeared ten years later in her own right in this novel, "The Case is Closed" (1937), the beginning of a long series.
Much of the legwork in the case is done by a typical young Wentworth heroine Hilary Carew, with Miss Silver pulling all the threads together at the finish. Inspector Lamb and Detective Abbott do not appear.
Miss Wentworth continued to write many non-Miss-Silver novels alongside the Miss Silver series, at least until 1945, when she concentrated exclusively on Miss Silver.

Thanks very much for posting a few Patricia Wentworth books. I've been trying to sample one or two but the ebooks in Canada have been fairly pricey and they haven't turned up in the library.
