Android app with advantages of both Kindle and Stanza on the iPhone?

Is there an Android e-reader app that you can highlight and look up dictionary with just one tap (very convenient) a la the Kindle, and also has the advantage of Stanza (editable font color, background picture)?

Android devices are very versatile. Almost all eReaders out there for the Android support highlighting and note taking. You can use the official Kindle for Android app by Amazon. There are a multitude of readers for the Android devices that you can try.

Moon+ Reader allows you to change the background images like Stanza does. I'm not sure about the font color changing, but it might be supported.

For a list of all readers for the Android devices, you can visit this thread.

Moonreader seems to allow long-tap lookup of words in a dictionary

Moon+ Reader does allow you to change the background images and font colours. The dictionary lookup requires you to install the dictionary app, but it works pretty well. It isn't quite a one tap lookup, it's more hold and then correct the selection before tapping to select dictionary lookup.

Moon+ Reader also offers the ability to sync progress to Dropbox, though I've never got it working to read that progress on another device to keep it in sync. I suspect that I'm missing something though.

Is there any Android readers that also syncs the same thing for all devices you are reading the book so that highlighting or taking notes on one device will automatically do the same thing to all your other devices that you are reading the book in, like Kindle? I Kindle if you send the .mobi files to a cloud, you can download the files on any device you are using.

The only serious problem I have with the Kindle though is the font size. It used to be that the biggest font size was too small for me to comfortably read, but then they made more possibility for font size, except it was of no use because the next increment of font size from the formerly largest font size is way too big to read comfortably on the small screen on iPhone.

I think the Google Play Books app handles highlighting, note-taking and syncing across devices, but at the moment has the major issue that you can only read books sourced from Google Play itself. Certainly worth keeping an eye on whether an import facility gets added in due course, though.

Besides all this, is there an Android app that can export your .epub file with the all the highlightings that you have made to the file intact so that you can post it online so that other people can download your highlighted version of the .ePub?

No. The highlights typically are external to the ePub. It might be possible to give others the ePub file and some extra file with information about the highlights, but this would only work for one specific app, and only if the information actually is stored in a separate file for each book, and not in some form of database.

You can of course edit the ePub file, using Sigil for instance, and then make the modified ePub available, all provided there are no problems with copyright and so on.

I'm thinking of books that are downloaded from archive.org (out of copyright).
Can you edit the ePub files in such a way that you can mark the highlights and the highlights would show in all ePub eReaders that has highlighting features, such as iBooks or Stanza?

No. Not as actual highlighting.

But you could add fixed formatting to the ebook, similar to highlighting, and it will show up in all readers that are able to display that formatting.

I see. What kind of formatting might that be? Boldings and underlining and italics? Or can you change the color of the font itself? And what readers would be able to display that formatting?
