Kobo acquires Aquafadas & NZ partners

http://paidcontent.org/2012/10/10/ko...any-aquafadas/

wow! it's all go in Koboland. It makes complete sense for the tablet mag market to get a quality mob like aquafadas on board. Good news for additional partners in NZ too-the more distros the better.

This could help make the Kobo Arc a much more attractive buy. And self-publishing for rich, colour content is fantastic! I have someone locally who produces a local mountain biking map book and this is exactly the kind of platform he needs to self-publish it on Kobo! (And since Kobo has 47% marketshare in Canada, that's the platform he wants to target first.)

Kobo also announced that Writing Life is available in five additional languages as of this morning: http://blog.kobobooks.com/kobo-writi...new-languages/

Kobo has done an excellent job of getting partnerships in a lot of different markets world wide. It'll be interesting to see where they hit next.

From your link:
Quote:
Among Canadian e-book buyers, Kobo was the most popular purveyor of e-reading devices—27% planned to use a Kobo device to read their next e-book. “Given Kobo’s Canadian roots, this isn’t surprising,” said Pamela Millar, BookNet Canada’s Director of Customer Relations. “But Kindle and Apple devices are not far behind.
Apple devices? They are including tablets as devices. scrapking's 47% number comes from a poll for dedicated eReaders. There is no conflict, approximately half of ebook consumers read on tablets or phones.

Two different statistics.

Kobo has 47% of the sales life to date (and 55% over the last year) in dedicated e-ink e-readers. That's a study strictly looking at e-ink device sales.

This new study is looking at e-book sales, not e-reader sales, so blends in people who read on tablets, laptops, smartphones, etc. Given all the devices and all the e-book stores available, Kobo having 27% of that fractured market is actually a huge accomplishment, especially since Kindle, Sony, iBooks, etc., have captured less.

Or, I could have just read your reply and not responded at all.
