Genre hierarchy question/advice needed

I have got a genre column which I am trying to populate myself.
Hierarchy works fine but I am at a bit of a loss as to how to order things.

Majority of books are mystery/crime of one type or another. Lots of subgenres in mysteries. Hard-Boiled, Cozy, Paranormal, Police Procedural, Horror, True Crime, Humorous, Juvenile, Detective, Fantasy, Legal, Suspense, Thriller etc.

I have mystery as my top of hierarchy genre but will probably change to crime.

If anyone has advice I would appreciate hearing it.

Thanks

Helen

To bad calibre does not have a 'tag mapper' PI that would filter metadata downloads and use the users Map to populate tags

It would be nice to have a universal tag mapper. That is why I use the Good Reads metadata download plugin to populate my tags, because this metadata plugin does have a mapping utility. It allows me to map the Good Reads genre entries to populate my tag column. Keeps my tags consistant and my total tags down to a manageable 240.

You don't need an account to use the metadata download plugin.

Never visited because I was not interested telling the world 'what page I was on' (my opinion of SN sites' YMMV and probably does )

Thanks, I will take a peek

@theducks - haha, you don't actually have to "tell the world" even if you do join. You can be "antisocial" on Goodreads if you want to (like I am) and keep your shelves private to yourself and not visible to others. Thereby just using Goodreads as a way of tracking what you have read over time with the pretty graphs etc, while being able to see other people''s reviews or have recommendations for books generated based on what you read/liked etc.
