Paperwhite is really LIGHT.
Just to see how the weights compare I weighed my 3 Kindles inside their covers. This is how it turned out:

Kindle Kbd WiFi 3rd Gen = 13.5 ounces

Kindle Paperwhite WiFi = 11.8 ounces

Kindle Fire 7" 1st Gen = 1 pound, 4.0 ounces

The Paperwhite is really light and easy to hold sitting in a chair without any desk or table. The Kindle Fire really needs to be placed on a desk in its stand and not held.

For just reading eBooks the Paperwhite wins hands down. For running Android Apps, watching TV and listening to music the Kindle Fire is best.

I'm a little shocked as to how heavy the PW is actually. My Sony 650, even though it is a metal not plastic reader, only weighs 10.55 oz with the Sony case. Taking into account the problems people seem to be having with the PW, and not being able to easily return it if I buy one, (I am in the UK), I think I'll stick with Sony and get the T, it only weighs 5.78 oz without case. I am disappointed with the PW.

Yep. And the tech specs page says the Kobo Glo is 185 g (6.5 ounces).

But the OP is weighing the reader with the cover; its nude weight is 7.8 ounces, which still makes it the heaviest of the three.

I'd also completely expect the PW to be lighter than both the K3 and the Fire considering the K3 has a keyboard and the Fire is an LCD tablet.
