Light Doesn't Turn Off?

I thought the light turned off when you swipe it all the way down to zero?

There's still a faint glow at 0...is it just always on then, or am I missing an option to turn it off?

From the PDF manual:

Screen Light: Slide your finger along the scale to adjust the screen brightness. Press and
hold the “-” button to turn off the light. Tap and hold the “+” button to turn the light on at
maximum brightness.

Yeah, but thats not turning it off for me. A faint glow is still there, noticeable in a dark room.

I guess it doesn't matter as its not affecting the battery much, apparently.

No it doesn't appear to actually turn off (although it appears it has until you're in a darkened room) except when you actually turn it off/put it in sleep mode.

Sounds like Amazon's turning the light off is the same as turning the Kindle off..... i.e. it might state that in the manual, but it's not really off?

If there is enough ambient light to read the KPW can you still see the glow? If not it is a moot point unless you like cuddling up to your KPW in the dark. :-)

I actually called Kindle tech support earlier today, and they verified that you cannot actually turn the light all the way off unless it is asleep. The manual says you can, but you can't.

This displeases me, but other than that I like it quite a bit.

Edit: I tend to read before bed with the lights really low (25 watt bulb equivalent or so) and I can definitely tell that the screen is lit with the light turned "off."

I don't mind it not turning off all the way. If it turned all the way off and you were in a dark room, it would be hard to find the settings to turn up the brightness! ;-)
