So is this late-February firmware upgrade for the PRS-505 delayed - or just a rumor? Or does anyone have any more knowledge of the actual anticipated release date?

I think the February date was a rumor/speculation in the first place. I suspect that if they were, in fact, aiming at a late Feb. release, it was probably delayed by Adobe finally getting off the dime on a mobile version of Digital Editions -- that is, when Adobe announced their mobile DE (late in January, was it?), Sony might have said, hold the presses, we need to get that in order before we do a firmware update.

But that is all guesswork, so salt to taste.

There are pretty few actual "bugs" in the Gen3, either - most of them were fixed in an "internal" firmware upgrade made in late December. What most of us are hoping for in the forthcoming upgrade is new functionality, rather than bug fixes.

Sure is. For both the 500 and 505. I'd love it if Sony would fix that. And it'd be even better if they allowed a user-settable option to do a drill-down version of the a-c, d-f style listing that they support one level of on the 505. And better still if that option (and my requested upgrade to it) came to the 500.

I am not aware about this one.

How does it represent itself? I have read a few 1000+ pages lrf files and never had a problem.
I also have a few pdfs made in pdflrf and there are no problems too.

Not come across it myself, but IIRC, there are certain webfeeds/sites there kovid's RSS -> LRF or WEB -> LRF utils make 'books' that are legal LRF but crash the reader.
