There's many books I wouldn't read with no financial compensation, but very, very few that you couldn't pay me enough money to read.

Cuz...

[5thWiggles cues music and sings]

: :

I'm a book gigolo and everywhere I go,
People know the book I'm readin'.
Pay enough I'll chance, I'll even read romance,
My eyes! what they're seein'!
If you got enough to pay, I'll read Fifty Shades of Grey,
What does that say about me?
When the end comes I know, I was a book gigolo
Costs a lot for Snooki...

I'm a book gigolo and everywhere I go,
People know the book I'm readin'.
Pay enough I'll chance, I'll even read romance,
My eyes! what they're seein'?
If you got enough to pay, I'll read Fifty Shades of Grey,
What does that say about me?
When the end comes I know, I was a book gigolo
Costs a lot for Snooki...

[5thWiggle dances (badly) out of the thread, still singing:

'Coz I... am just a word 'ho and
there's nobody I won't read,
there's Nobody I won't read.
I just want the money,
want the money,
want the money.
Won't some sweet authour come and take a chance with me?
Cause I ain't so bad...

I'll read anything... if the price is right...
Even this, God forgive me

I keep trying to read James Joyce, but every time I get disgusted and put it aside again, same with the recent Neil Stephenson books.

Somehow Joyce and Stephenson in the same sentence makes me giggle. I've made it through two Joyce titles now. I think that's enough.

My hypothesis is that to truly appreciate Joyce, you have to be in the same frame of mind when you read him as he was when he wrote. Are psychedelics fairly easy to obtain in Denver?

It certainly explains his popularity in universities.

I am getting a bit tired of "chosen one" and "save the world" narratives. I say this as a fan of many of them (HP, Buffy, etc.).

Well, that rules out about 95% of SF and Fantasy, which ought to cut down your TBR list a bit.

I love a good chosen hero will save the universe story! That's what 95% of all fiction is, isn't it?
