Come on Tom, time's almost up, give us a hint what's winning! Just tell us, is it the one with six words in its title, or is it the one that starts with the word "A"?

Dreams beat me to it.
![]() Neither of my two favorites even came close to making their way into the run-off vote.

Well, I'm amazed. Although "A Thousand Miles Up the Nile" is my choice, I thought "A Short History of Nearly everything" would win by a landslide!

I'll be extremely interested to hear peoples' opinions of this book. I love it because:
1. Egypt is probably my favorite place in the world. 2. I've seen everything described in the book, and it's fascinating to compare the way the Egyptian temples are now to the way they were (almost hidden in the sand) at the time of Amelia Edwards' journey in 1873. 3. I like Victorian travelogues! Perhaps some people will find this a very boring book; it'll be interested to hear.

I look forward to this book.
It's one I would never have even known about but for this book club.Bryson's book looks interesting too and I'll put it on my TBR list.

I've just borrowed two Amelia Peabody mysteries from my library and am very interested in reading about the "original". But, Harrrry, what's this? Have you concealed something??? Hope I won't belong to "some people" and will enjoy the book.

I'll download it and give it a go, but I'm pretty sure it's not for me right now. I won't mind being wrong though!

If we didn't have a run-off vote, the better sounding of the two would have won.

I've already started A Thousand Miles Up the Nile on my K Fire and really enjoyed that I could zoom in on the illustrations in the book. The detail is fantastic. The writing reminds me of old, old letters from my father's family during times when there was no other distractions of TV or instant travel or communication. The writing creates the scene and you "see" it in your mind. It paints the picture of where you are and what is around you, plus gives the reader an insight into the filter that the writer is using to view that era/world.
