Free (kindle) by Paul Levine: Mystery/thriller
PAYDIRT http://www.amazon.com/PAYDIRT-ebook/dp/B006O15HD4 is a thriller/caper, not part of either of the Levine series sets. This has been a freebie before, so you might already have picked it up. I'd guess it might be available free through today only, since it showed up yesterday. "Bobby Gallagher has it all...a great job, a loving wife, and an adoring son... Then he's fired; his wife divorces him; and he goes bankrupt... Now, to reclaim his life, all he has to do is rig the Super Bowl, win a huge bet, and avoid getting killed." And I'm really excited about the second offering: KILL ALL THE LAWYERS http://www.amazon.com/KILL-LAWYERS-S.../dp/B007UPTH6Q is part of Levin's Solomon & Lord series, featuring an unlikely pairing (both professionally and romantically) of a straight-laced lawyer with a risk-taking, convention-flouting, corner-cutting partner. Sharp banter between the 2 is the hallmark: think Nick & Nora Charles (of the Thin Man movies), or the first season of the TV show Moonlighting. Some consider this the weakest of the Solomon & Lord series, which still puts it in my "must read" list even if true. "This clever, colorful thriller from former attorney Levine (The Deep-Blue Alibi, etc.) focuses as much on the age-old conflict between Mars and Venus as on delivering legal wisecracks and page-turning suspense. Miami defense attorney Steve Solomon and his partner in law and love, Victoria Lord, rarely see eye to eye. He bends the rules, and she plays by the book" I don't think any of this series has been available free before this round (the first was offered a week or 2 ago). Probably free for a day or 2 this round, probably DRM free, and likely to herald a chance to pick up the entire series if Levine's typical pattern holds & you enjoy it. If you like it, the rest of the series is worth buying if it doesn't show up freebied, or you're impatient. They're in my physical bookcase, holding spots increasingly precious as our conflict between books and space grows more severe. Their space is pretty secure for the long run. KentE |

Example: “Bob, I did not know you wore yellow suspenders,” Sally remarked. “Gee, Sally, those are not suspenders. I am wearing yellow underwear today,” Bob revealed. The dialogue above will help produce at least 100 more pages of dialogue. |
